Ford Escape Hybrid

Ford Escape HybridThe Ford Escape Hybrid is easily one of my favorites. The new 2008 model is sharp, and comes in some fantastic colors, including green. And, it’s spokesman is Kermit the Frog.

But lets get to the meat and potatoes. The Escape has technology similar to the Toyota Prius. Meaning that the system can switch automatically between pure electric power, pure gasoline engine power, or a combination of electric battery and gasoline engine operating together. The Escape hybrid uses regenerative braking. This is where the electric motor becomes a generator. It converts the Escape’s momentum back to electricity for storage in the batteries.

The engine has 155 horsepower and nearly the same acceleration performance as the conventional 200 hp V6 Escape. So for those concerned about power, this SUV is for you. And it gets about 33 to 36 mpg in city traffic, and has demonstrated 400–500 miles on a single tank of gas during city driving, and 29 to 31 mpg on the highway.Pick-up movie full
