Hybrid Honda Fit To Arrive In 2010

Seeking to capitalize on the huge success of their recently introduced Insight hybrid, Honda has fast-tracked the plans to bring a hybrid variant of their Fit subcompact to market. The Insight went on sale in Japan in March and in April became the nation’s best-selling car, the first time ever for a hybrid vehicle. The car has been receiving a lot of the attention in the United States, as well, due to its starting price of under $20,000, making it the least expensive hybrid vehicle on the market.
The Honda Fit, a subcompact model that has also been hugely successful in Japan, was originally set to get the hybrid treatment in mid-2011 or early 2012. However, Honda has decided to bring the Fit Hybrid to market by the fall of 2010 to meet the growing demand for vehicles that get great gas mileage and produce low emissions. Now word yet on the technical specifications or the expected mileage figures, but the mpg will likely be fairly high considering that the Fit is a very light vehicle. The current Fit weighs a hair under 2,500 pounds with a manual transmission (a little over with an automatic transmission) and has a starting price of $14,750. The Fit hybrid will reportedly have a starting price of $15,800, making it the first hybrid that is within reach of most any new car buyer. The Uninvited hdThe Message buy
