U.S.-made Battery For Fisker Karma Plug-In Hybrid

.!.

If the Fisker Karma stays on its production schedule, it could accomplish a lot of firsts; the first plug-in hybrid sold in America, the first American-made plug-in hybrid to reach the market, and the first to feature a battery made on American soil.  That’s a lot of firsts riding on the shoulders of the Irvine, California-based automaker.

The batteries, according to a recent press release, will be coming from Enerdel, a company based in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The deal is not finalized yet, but if Enderel’s batteries can conform to Fisker’s reliability and performance standards, there is a letter of intent signed that says the deal will be made.  Fisker had originally planned to get the batteries from the Canadian company Advanced Lithium Power, which is based in Vancouver, BC.  The proposed lithium-ion batteries use the same lithium magnesium oxide electrodes that are planned for use in the Chevrolet Volt.Blackwoods rip
