Toyota Builds More Batteries

The Panasonic EV Energy Company, which is owned by Toyota and Panasonic Corp., will be tapped to produce even more batteries for Toyota’s hybrid models in the coming months. Toyota originally expected production of the nickel metal hydride batteries to consist of 700,000 units per year, and, after the resounding success of the company’s brand new 2010 Prius hybrid, increased that production to 1 million units.
But, they weren’t finished yet. Pre-orders in Japan for the new Prius have jumped up by 75% since the model premiered in May. Currently, if you ordered a Prius you’d have to wair about 4-5 months before receiving delivery of the vehicle. To account for this new demand, Toyota will be boosting battery production capacity by another 10%, accounting for 1.1 million batteries per year starting in 2010.My Mom’s New Boyfriend movies
